About me
My name is Karen Kempsell and in addition to my other life as a microbiologist I am a very small hobby breeder of British Shorthair cats. As long as I can remember my family has had an assortment of pets, large and small. However I have always been passionate about cats, luckily they have felt the same about me....so far!! My love affair with British Shorthairs started when I saw a beautiful silver tabby at a cat show in Madison Square Gardens, New York. I had to wait 18 years to own one though, as my work took me all over the country and I couldn't offer one a safe, stable home.
I did have two fantastic moggies (see past friends page) who went everywhere with me, while I went through my years of professional training. Sadly they passed on recently, Miskin in 2005 at the age of 16.5 years from cancer and Flynn in 2006 from old age and hyperthyroidism at the age of 18. Luckily Flynn lived to meet the first of my British Shorthair girls and he and Pixie were inseparable for the last year of his life. He had missed his sister very much after she died and Pixie brought some happiness to his final time with us. She made an old cat very happy!! Freyja joined us at the same time from the same breeder, Mrs Ann Boul from Purravida cats, who sadly is no longer breeding. However, I have her to thank for my two lovely British girls and for getting me started in both showing and breeding.
Anyway, enough about me read about my clan on the cats page and they can introduce themselves!
